An algorithmic re-reading of Virginia Woolf’s novel The Waves. A complete tidal revolution occurs every 12 hours and 25 minutes. It takes 6 hours and 12.5 minutes for the water at the shoreline to transition from the lowest to the highest. The full 77,042 word count of Woolf’s novel was divided by these 372.5 minutes of tidal flux. The publication begins with the first word of the novel with each consecutive word appearing where a tidal division lands - every 207th word, a word carrying each minute of the swell forwards, each minute of the novel towards the end. With an afterword by Neal Cahoon.
