This publication documents a spontaneous homage to Virginia Woolf's essay 'On Being Ill.' In the early days of pandemic isolation, Ane Thon Knutsen worked from her private letterpress studio at home, printing one sentence a day from March 23rd to August 29th, 2020. This process shaped a diary in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and allowed for research on pandemics through the creation of an artist book. The publication also contains reflections on teaching during the pandemic in the spring of 2021, including insights and works by master's students in graphic design and illustration at The Oslo National Academy of The Arts, using Woolf's essay as a mirror for their own pandemic experiences. Ane Thon Knutsen

Anes praksis som kunsthåndverker er motivert av taktilitet i trykksaker - spesielt forholdet mellom typografien og litteraturen. Hun jobber med boktrykk (letterpress) som uttrykksform, som krever at man involverer kroppen i tekstarbeider. Ane eier og jobber i eget boktrykkverksted i Oslo og er en av få som forvalter og benytter denne teknologien i en kunstnerisk kontekst i Norge. Gjennom konseptuelle arbeider forsker hun på aktivisme, selvpublisering, eksperimentelle tilnærminger og marginaliserte stemmer innen det trykte mediets historie.
